Why I hate Leopard (plus some TIPS to disable Spotlight in Leopard)

Sorry everybody... I don't know why the text area of MT4 doesn't support QIM... at all! I cannot type any Chinese character in Safari for Apple4.us. (Admin, please fix this...)

Anyway, just wanna copy/paste some simple system tips here for other Mac OS X users, especially the poor Leopard users. I think I'm among the first stupid assholes who installed Leopard 3 days before the official release date. And as you know, Leopard sucks and disappoints. (Don't argue with me at this point!)

According to the unofficial apple blog (sorry I don't wanna check its correct name right now), Mac OS X 10.5.2 would be as huge as 250MB+, so you will understand IT IS AN UNCOMPLETED PRODUCT!

Yup, some of you may be lucky enough to avoid all the nightmares brought by Leopard. BUT, I cannot suffer anymore! For a least 4 times, I woke up at the mid of night and figured out the HORRIBLE noise was made by Mr. Jobs' killer app! No kidding! It almost killed me! An Apple fan killed by Apple's (laptop's) fan!

So, let me tell you how to make your MacBook/Pro less noisy - Shut the Spotlight's process off permanently! You must have found that, there's always a stupid system process called "mds" popping up at the top of CPU-occupying list. You killed it, and it came back again! (Terminator?)

Here's some command lines which would help you get rid of the goddamn MDS process. Write it down, RIGHT NOW! (For god's sake, never ever think about the built-in searching feature of Leopard again, give Google Desktop for Mac a shot please!)

Launch Terminal from the Utilites folder.

To disable Spotlight, type the following and press Return:
sudo launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

To disable it permanently, type this instead:
sudo launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

To enable Spotlight, type the following and press Return:
sudo launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

To enable it permanently, type this instead:
sudo launchctl load -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.metadata.mds.plist

Good night and good luck. Hope next time I could write in Chinese here.
